Furlong Pursues Individualized Cross-Cultural Experience
2016 Aug 30
Kelly Furlong recently spent time in Granada, Spain, for Susquehanna University's cross-cultural requirement.
Susquehanna is distinguished by its Global Opportunities (GO) program, which requires that all students spend at least two weeks off campus, immersed in a culture different from their own. The GO Your Own Way option allows students to fill this requirement through a self-designed program, or a study away, internship or service trip that is not offered through the university.
Furlong designed her own program, in which she took Spanish-intensive classes at the Don Quijote Language School and lived with a Spanish host family. While in Granada, she studied Spanish culture by interacting with local citizens and visiting historical sites.
