Keenan Learns Ins and Outs of European Union

2016 Jan 19

Jacqueline Keenan, of Bayport, N.Y., took part in the annual Mid-Atlantic European Union Simulation held in Washington, D.C., late last fall. Keenan was one of 22 students from Susquehanna University to attend the event.

Participating schools research their particular country's interests in the union in order to represent that country at the simulation. The simulation involves meetings of the European Union (EU) Council, two parliamentary committees and two Councils of Ministers. During the three days, students have the opportunity to visit the embassy of the country that they represented in the simulation.

The program is designed to engage students in discussion about topics currently debated by EU members. The Susquehanna team was accompanied by Associate Professors of Political Science Andrea Lopez and Nicholas Clark.
