Smith Pursues Individualized Cross-Cultural Experience

2016 Aug 30

Victoria Smith recently spent time in Cape Town, South Africa, for Susquehanna University's cross-cultural requirement.

Susquehanna is distinguished by its Global Opportunities (GO) program, which requires that all students spend at least two weeks off campus, immersed in a culture different from their own. The GO Your Own Way option allows students to fill this requirement through a self-designed program, or a study away, internship or service trip that is not offered through the university.

Smith had an internship helping refugee women and children through Experiential Learning International (ELI) Abroad. While in Cape Town, she taught the refugee women and children life development skills and helped in soup kitchens and orphanages in the area.
