Stevens Gains a New Perspective Through Japanese Culture

2017 Jun 2

Megan Stevens is studying in Tokyo, Japan, with 19 other students from Susquehanna University as part of the university's Global Opportunities (GO) program.

The GO Tokyo program connects students with various aspects of Japanese culture, society, education and history. Students interact with their Japanese peers to gain a better understanding of their own culture and the cultural similarities and differences they share with others. Program activities take place in the historical and modern city of Tokyo, as well as Senshu University, the second oldest private university in Japan.

As a cross-cultural requirement, study away is an integral part of a Susquehanna education. All students spend at least two weeks off campus, immersed in a culture different from their own, in the U.S. or abroad. Students reflect upon their experiences when they return, guided by faculty members and coursework that promotes discovery and personal growth.
