Susquehanna, a liberal arts university, focuses on intellectual development, global competence and career success. We offer a nationally recognized study abroad program and more than 100 majors and minors in business, humanities, arts and sciences. Students develop critical thinking, writing, teamwork and communication skills which, combined with internships and research opportunities, prepare them for a lifetime of personal and professional success. Small classes enable faculty members to serve as mentors, as well as teachers. Ninety-six percent of Susquehanna students are employed or in graduate or professional school within six months of graduation.

Students Participate in NATS Eastern Region Conference
Three Susquehanna students recently attended the National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS) Eastern Region Conference and Student Auditions. Founded in 1944, NATS is the largest professional organization of vocal teachers in the world, with more than 7,000 members in the United States, Canada, and nearly 30 other countries. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's conference and auditions were held remotely.

Student Wins Portfolio Prize
Sarena Pollock was recently selected as the recipient of the 2020 Gary and Elizabeth Fincke Senior Portfolio Prize at Susquehanna University. The prize is awarded annually to the senior creative writing major who submits the best collection of his or her works, including poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or excerpts from a novel or screenplay. As this year's winner, Pollock received a $1,000 scholarship

Area Student Takes College Studies Abroad
Several students are studying abroad this spring. Susquehanna is distinguished by its Global Opportunities (GO) program, which requires all students to spend at least two weeks off campus, immersed in a culture different from their own. Currently, Susquehanna students can choose from study-away programs ranging from a few weeks to as long as a full semester, in Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, Europe, New Orleans and Washington, D.C., among other options.

Fall 2019 Cheerleaders
Several students were recently named to the 2019 - 2020 cheerleading squad at Susquehanna University. The Susquehanna cheerleaders, under the direction of head coach Collette Bender, are skilled in dancing, gymnastics and stunts. The sixteen-member squad performs at all football and home men's and women's basketball games.

For a group of select first-year students, one summer service-learning program can change the way they view themselves and their communities. Fifty Susquehanna students recently presented research at the 31st annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Memphis, Tenn. Established in 1987, the conference is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research and scholarship done in partnership with faculty or other mentors. The annual conference has become a national celebration of undergraduate scholarly activity involving all academic disciplines and all institutions of higher education.

Students Participate in Regional Enactus Competition
Thirteen Susquehanna students participated in the recent Enactus USA Regional Competition in Washington, D.C. This year marks the team's 13th regional win and advances the team to the national competition in Kansas City, Mo., next month. Susquehanna's Enactus group is one of more than 1,600 chapters on college campuses in 40 countries. Within these chapters, student teams bring business acumen to community service projects while practicing leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
