Susquehanna, a liberal arts university, focuses on intellectual development, global competence and career success. We offer a nationally recognized study abroad program and more than 100 majors and minors in business, humanities, arts and sciences. Students develop critical thinking, writing, teamwork and communication skills which, combined with internships and research opportunities, prepare them for a lifetime of personal and professional success. Small classes enable faculty members to serve as mentors, as well as teachers. Ninety-six percent of Susquehanna students are employed or in graduate or professional school within six months of graduation.

Students Gain Spots in Susquehanna Stadium Band
Several students are participating in Susquehanna University's stadium band this fall. The Susquehanna stadium band plays at all home football games, the homecoming parade and pep rally, and at special events throughout the fall. The band is under the direction of Eric Hinton, associate professor of music and director of bands at Susquehanna.

Students Selected for Susquehanna Dance Team
Several students have earned slots on the 2014-15 Susquehanna University Dance Team. The dance team performs at all home men's and women's basketball games and at several campus and community events throughout the academic year.

Badge leadership
Senators Elected to Student Government Association
Several students have been elected as class senators to the Student Government Association (SGA) by Susquehanna University's student body. The SGA is a representative student organization that ensures an active student voice and role in governing the university. The Student Senate, the legislative branch of the association, provides a forum for student opinions and deals with matters of concern to the entire student body.

Students Encourage University Support Through Caller Program
Several students are helping raise funds for Susquehanna University through its student calling program. The students contact parents and alumni to encourage them to support the university by making a donation. Funds raised are used to support scholarships, laboratory equipment, research, athletics, the library and the arts, among other endeavors.

Student Earns University Assistantship
Several students were awarded an assistantship at Susquehanna University for the 2014-15 academic year. Assistantships are competitive, merit-based scholarships, in which recipients gain professional work experience by working closely with a faculty or administrative staff member throughout their years at Susquehanna.

First-Year Students Accepted to Susquehanna Honors Program
Several students have been accepted to Susquehanna University's highly selective Honors Program. The Honors Program at Susquehanna offers a challenging academic program to students interested in a more self-directed and interdisciplinary approach to learning. Students are chosen for their natural curiosity, passion for learning, high energy, leadership and academic standing in high school.

Students Lend Their Talent to Susquehanna Radio Station
Student broadcasters are working at WQSU-FM, a public radio station operated by Susquehanna University. The station not only serves the public but also provides students with the opportunity to train in various forms of broadcasting principles and operations.

Students Study Business Abroad
Several students participated in the Sigmund Weis School of Business London Program during the spring 2014 semester. The program provides business students with an international experience, developing and expanding their learning capabilities and broadening their perspectives about possible careers. While abroad, students complete courses in operations management, quantitative methods for business, international business practice, and management and organizational behavior.

Seven students recently received the Douglas and Lucille Arthur Scholarship at Susquehanna University. The Arthurs established the scholarship in 1987 as an expression of their commitment to Susquehanna and the opportunities it provides young men and women.

Fall 2014 Cheerleaders
Several students were recently named to the 2014-15 cheerleading squad at Susquehanna University. The Susquehanna cheerleaders, under the direction of head coach Tara Beck, are skilled in dancing, gymnastics and stunts. The 16-member squad performs at all football and home men's and women's basketball games.

Bailey's responsibilities include designing a residence life monthly newsletter, assisting in the development of publications for the department, data entry and email communication. Through the course of the internship, he will gain experience working in student affairs.

Taylor Brady, of Phillipsburg, N.J., is serving an internship this fall as an assistant with the Mifflinburg (Pa.) Heritage and Revitalization Association. Brady's responsibilities include assisting with performances bookings and scheduling, in addition to advertising, audience development and crowd funding. Through the course of the internship, she will enhance her skills in marketing and communications.

Stephanie Heinz, of Ardsley, Pa., is serving an internship this fall as a marketing assistant for Bull Magazine. Heinz's responsibilities include coordinating and performing a marketing and publicity plan; working with new advertisers and markets; and coordinating readings and other events. Through the course of the internship, she will gain experience with a professional marketing team and enhance skills in planning and executing projects.

Chelsea Ritter, of Watsontown, is serving an internship this fall as a student editor for Susquehanna Life magazine. Ritter's responsibilities include interviewing subjects and taking their pictures for story briefs, answering phone calls and interacting with customers, and helping to develop the website for the Empowering Our Region Business Conference. Through the course of the internship, she will gain a better understanding of magazine editing and publishing.

Through the course of the internship, she will gain publishing experience under the advisement of Laurence Roth, professor of English.

Jorden Bailey, of Beavertown, Pa., is serving an internship this fall as an assistant manager at It's All About Me Boutique in Selinsgrove. Bailey's responsibilities include gaining a basic knowledge of the store, it's employees and the customers to have a better understanding of how to handle the store's marketing and advertising locally and through social media. Through the course of the internship, she will strengthen her marketing skills and gain on-the-job experience in business.

Students Selected as 2014-15 Presidential Fellows
Twenty-three students were recently selected as Presidential Fellows for the 2014-15 academic year at Susquehanna University. Each year, approximately 20 sophomore students are selected to be Presidential Fellows. Deans and department heads nominate students who they feel have the academic ability, enthusiasm and interest to benefit from co-curricular discussions of literature, theater and current events.
